BALANCE :: To join or NOT to join the eurozone?
'The topic of euro adoption in Poland is politically dead' headlined recently Polish media writing that only one party - Nowoczesna - is currently in favor of Poland adopting the common currency.
The remaining parties either opt to wait till Poland gets richer and the eurozone gets reformed - the opposition Civic Platform (PO) and Polish Peoples' Party (PSL) - or simply say 'no' like Kukiz'15 and the ruling Law and Justice Party (PiS) which have in the past called the eurozone 'contrary to the EU rule of Solidarity' and said the euro adoption 'would deprive Poland of independent fiscal policy'.
According to various polls, more than two-thirds of Poles oppose joining the euro area believing that adoption of the euro would be bad for the Polish economy.
